The Modern Day Cinderella Glass Slipper

Cinderella the film is due to be screened this year but what’s even more exciting than that is that Disney asked 11 Designers to create their interpretation of the modern day infamous ‘Glass Slipper’. However these stunning shoes are not the kind that we would leave behind on any stair case! The shoes will go on sale at Harrods on the 3rd of march ranging from £490 (Jerome C Rousseaus) to a whopping £2,995 (Jimmy Choo) Which seemed to be the favourite for the Princess Lily James as she glided down the red carpet wearing them at the Cinderella Première. Which i agree are my fav and remind me most of the original. – See below my thoughts on each designers shoe.   image1   Jimmy Choo – From the 11 this is my fav! It’s elegant and classy and reminds me most of the oringinal slipper we see in the Disney film see here –cinderella-disneyscreencaps-com-8548-science-explains-cinderella-s-glass-slippers-dainty-footwear-or-accident-waiting-to-happen – The crystal like flower resembles to me that glistening sparkle. It truly is fit for a princess. The only thing I can fault this creation on is the lack of the “glass slipper” like feel, but I suppose perspex may have brought away the elegance from this practically perfect princess heel.

“I think every girl desires a Cinderella moment in their lives. This story ignites a love affair and fascination with shoes that never dies. The power they have to transform is instilled from a young age and the fantasy remains alive forever. I wanted to create a shoe that felt magical, with alluring sparkle and a feminine, timeless silhouette evoking those childhood emotions.” –Sandra Choi, creative director for Jimmy Choo

Nicola Kirkwood  – The perspex glass look is there with a girly lace. Keeping very feminine with the girl encrustred back bow and heel with a touch of attitude with it’s sharp encrusted pointed two. Perfect for the modern day Ella

“Cinderella has both delicate and strong qualities as a character. The moment of transformation emphasizes both and gave me the design inspiration to create a piece that spoke to the film’s magic.” — Nicholas Kirkwood

Paul Andrew – Again the perspex glass feel features here  – keeping with the oringanl glass slipper theme – with button jewels encrusted heel and silver chrome toe – This shoe has the perfect modern twist and coudl easily be on every girls shopping list. It’s simple cinders.

“Cinderella’s glass slipper represents every woman’s dream shoe. The story, being a classic, inspired me to use my iconic pointed toe silhouette, which I embellished with an array of hand encrusted Swarovski crystals to create the ultimate fantasy shoe. I used transparent PVC to create a ‘glass’ effect and ivory suede for luxurious texture and dimension.” — Paul Andrew

Stuart Weitzman – Pushed the modern border and created the see through, white leather, encrusted ankle boot. These are wearable which is a great thing and i know they are bound to be flying off the shelf when they go on sale.

“Cinderella in 2015 has a timeless appeal. The diamond and translucent bootie enhance the vision I have of her.” — Stuart Weitzman

Salvatore Ferragamo – Goes black suede, again perpex and chrome baguette jewelled heel This is show i would purchase right now! It’s not fairy tale Cinderella at all i dont think but Disney wanted modern – It’s the perfect modern day princess show – Sassy yet Classy.

“The magic of a shoe that turns a woman into a princess and gives her the feeling of walking on clouds is a universal dream. A modern Cinderella fairy tale of rediscovering a soft sensuality and a powerful femininity. A shoe made of transparency and light: the cage heel, an iconic symbol of Salvatore Ferragamo, is covered with Swarovski crystals and is transformed by sparkling impalpability.” — Massimiliano Giornetti, creative director at Salvatore Ferragamo

Rene Caovilla – There is somethign very fairytale about this shoe – although It gives off a more sharp attitude that would mostly suit the character Elsa from Frozen.

“‘Works of arts called shoes’ to grant wishes and raise emotions. Passion and never ending research don’t draw the line at fantasy and creativity. This is how dreams come true in our fairy tale.” — Rene Caovilla

Christian Louboutin – Within the film the glass slipper features a butterfly, which is where i believe Mr Loub has taken the idea from to add some fluttery friends with some crystal and lace.

Manolo Blahnik – Nice sandal but I probably wouldn’t look twice at this shoe. Blahnik really disappointed me with this sling back sandal, there no wow or princesslike feeling at all to this shoe. We seen better Hangisi blue embellished satin pumps on Carrie Bradshaw in Sex in The City – I was expecting a more blinged up white version of this pump, but no get this ? really?

Charlottle Olympia  – Being 4ft 11 I love a sky scraper shoe and i love the fact that the whole ‘Glass’ like feel and twinkle has been taken into account, however to me the modern cinderlla would be working her ass off for tips sliding up and down  pole in these glass strippers – sorry slippers.

“I am delighted and honoured to be invited by Disney to design one of the most iconic shoes in history. It was such a pleasure to create my version of Cinderella’s glass slipper which I have aptly named If the Shoe Fits. This transparent platform shoe made with my signature PVC & perspex materials is adorned with star and crystal detailing as befits any princess.” — Charlotte Olympia

Alexandre Birman – I very rarely ever like white shoes, and this is the perfect example of why. This show to me looks so tacky. The tan sole and heel showing  – it hardly took any imagination to come up with this ? i have nothing else to say…

“My vision of the glass slipper was inspired by the timeless and feminine beauty that I believe Cinderella and the Alexandre Birman brand both share. I reinterpreted our classic Johanna pump, this time giving it a fashionable and romantic twist with satin and Swarovski crystals. It’s a shoe I imagine a modern princess would wear.” — Alexandre Birman

Jerome C Rousseaus – I think the designer here was going for the “when the clock strikes 12” feel, with the midnight blue coloured sandal, certainly a modern day sandal  and something I would see most girls grabbing from the shelves – out of the box idea – do you think it worked well?

“The stroke of midnight is a wonderful element of the Cinderella fairytale, it adds tension and intensity to the story. I was inspired by that when I designed this style for Cinderella and the result is a dramatic midnight-blue glitter sandal on a sky-high heel. The clear strap is reminiscent of the crystal slipper, while the refined gold and silver trims add the right amount of whimsy to the design. I wanted to create something that, if left behind, the Prince would feel even more captivated by Cinderella’s allure.” –Jerome C. Rousseau

The Perfect Pout!

We all want those voluptuous, chap free, kissable lips…. But the question is HOW?!

The thought came into my head today as I have chapped lips – I always do have when the weather is in its minus here in Scotland. I’ve tried everything, from Vaseline, Aloe Vera, Lush Lip Scrubs (popcorn one tastes amazing BTW!).. I think I have tired every potion and lotion. Yes thee sooth them for a while but nothing has really amazed me yet… CAN ANYONE HELP ME OUT HERE AND SUGGEST SOMETHING THAT’S GOING TO CHANGE MY LIPS LIFE ?!!

LIPS seem to be in just now – KYLIE JENNER has great set of smoochers on her and has had us all thinking – is it the art of the lip liner overlapping?, is it INJECTIONS? … I would love to have lip enhance injections, I don’t particularly need them but i want them. Unfortunately you see so many horror stories out there with these injections are they really worth it?  CAN ANYONE ENLIGHTEN ME ON THE DO’S AND DON’T S OF LIP INJECTIONS?

I’ve tried the lip liner trick but never been brave enough to walk out the door with it – It just doesn’t seem right, either that or I haven’t perfected the art of it and to be honest don’t think I ever will as I’m fearful of resembling PETE BURNS!

There seems to be so many tips and tricks out there how to get the perfect pout without the use of injections, from LIP VOLTAGE lipgloss which is for extreme tingling lip pumping action – I have never use it myself, apparently the tingling sensation can be annoying but the results are said to be great  – ANYONE HERE TRIED THIS?

The latest craze it the Full lips enhancement tool – It’s basically a little red plastic contraption you stick you lips in and apparently gives you fuller lips? Sounds like a rip off but I’ve seen results on-line but never tried it – IS IT AS GOOD AS THEY SAY ?

Then you have Pete Burns, Tulisa and Sylvester Stallones’ Mother who take it to another level and look like they have been stung off 100 bumble bees after having their lips stuck in a wine bottle ! They’re big, but they ain’t clever.

So how do us girls get the perfect pout – share with me below.

Shine bright when you highlight!

A make-up must have is a highlighter. Over the years I’ve always preferred cream based highlighters for a dewy fresh faced look until I came across Mary-Lou Manizer – Highlighter, Shadow & Shimmer by the Balm cosmetics.

This pretty little powder is presented with a vintage pin up style packaging and can be used as a highlighter or shadow.

Using my super soft blusher brush from the body shop, I add a little of this product across

  1. my cheek bones
  2. bridge of my nose
  3. brow bone
  4. cupid bows of my lips
  5. and the tear ducts of my eyes

to accentuate those parts of my face whilst giving my face a youthful, fresh faced glow.  – Pop this in your hand bag to top up your shine until night!

Nip + Fab Bee Sting Fix Cream Deluxe

Most women will remember sitting by their Mother watching and copying in complete awe as they apply their make-up.

My Mum didn’t wear make-up, she didn’t need it as her skin was perfectly flawless. Instead I would admire her from the other side of the room applying her Oil of Olay. To me this was her secret to her glowing skin and I would always steal a blob (or two) and smother it over my face just like her.

Years on my Mum still moisturises every day with her Oil of Olay and I’m still sneaking a little blob from time to time.

I love Oil of Olay 7 total effects and Nivea Soft for every day moisturising and complete happy with them but always on the hunt for new amazing products.

There are many weird and wonderful tips and tricks for skincare but one I came across was BEE VENOM creams.

The Been Venom creams that fools you skin into thinking it’s been stung for more thoughtful look and loved by many celebs such as Kate Middleton, Victoria Beckham and Michelle Pfeiffer – just to name drop few!

HERE’S WHAT I FOUND OUT…

Experts collect bee venom by placing a pane of glass alongside a hive and running a weak electrical current through it, which encourages the insects to sting the surface.

Because the bee’s lance remains in its body, it does not die.

Tiny quantities of the venom are then collected. It is so valuable that it costs up to £30,000 for one ounce. – WOW!

Bee Venom facial moisturiser costs £150 for a 50-millilitre pot, while an eye cream version costs £115 for a 25-millilitre tub.
I want to see what all the buzz was about but paying £150 seemed madness to me. Luckily I came across NIP+FABs BEE STING FIX DELUXE CREAM @ £9.98 which was half price in Superdrug but can be purchased from NIP+FAB @ £19.95

Bee Sting Cream

WHAT’S IN IT AND WHAT DOES IT DO?

Bee Venom: controls the facial muscles, increases blood circulation gently plumping out and firming the skin. Also fills and smoothes fine lines and wrinkles
Propolis Extract: this is a resinous substance harvested by bees on flower buds and it is a great skin healer, anti-oxidant and antiseptic
Hyaluronic Acid: increases moisture retention while being hydrating and moisturising
Shea Butter: helps strengthen skin + repair damage
Vitamin E: powerful antioxidant and protects cells against free radicals damage

MY THOUGHTS:

I’ve been using this cream for 2 months now and I love it. It’s designed to be used as both a day and night cream and I use it for both. The cream is quite thick so a little goes a long way.

When applied to my face my skin instantly feels hydrated and my skin does appear more plump and smooth. Just before using the cream my skin was drying out with the cold weather and now my skin feels great, I’m impressed. However I am running low and I would prefer a larger tub to be available to last longer – That’s my only complaint.

The scent is fresh and natural with a hint of honey and I love the vibrant and trendy yellow and purple packing.

Overall I give this product a thumbs up and I am currently purchasing my 2nd pot online now!
